  • The total annual household income must not surpass the current Income Threshold set by the Alberta Government.
  • Applicants must be 55 years of age or older.

  • Completed and signed application.
  • Two pieces of photo identification:
    • Proof of Indigenous Ancestry – Otipemisiwak Métis Government Citizen, Status, or Inuit card.
    • Driver’s license, passport, or other government-issued ID.
  • Current Notice of Assessment for all household residents over 18.
  • Medical letter confirming that you or someone in your household requires a barrier-free unit, if applicable.

Application Process

  1. Download and complete the application form below or pick it up from a Métis Capital Housing Office.
  2. Gather all required documents.
  3. Apply via:

    • Mail: Métis Capital Housing Corporation, 11923 121A Street, Edmonton, AB T5L 0A2
    • In-person: Drop off at the above address
  4. Once all documents are submitted, the application will be reviewed. If further information is required, the applicant will be contacted.
  5. Upon approval, the applicant is contacted and offered a unit if available. If no suitable unit is vacant, the applicant is added to our waitlist.
    • It is important to note that the applicant must contact the office every three months to confirm continued interest or to advise of any change in contact information.
    • Units are assigned to applicants in adherence to the National Occupancy Standard.

Approved Applicant Conditions

  • Tenancy Rules Compliance: To maintain a respectful and safe community, all residents must adhere to established tenancy rules.
  • Occupancy Condition: Only individuals listed on the original application can reside in the rental property. Violation of this condition may result in the termination of the agreement.
  • Criminal Record Check: Applicants must complete a criminal record check as part of the approval process.
  • Previous Tenancy Inquiry: Applicants must authorize Métis Capital Housing Corporation to inquire about their previous tenancy history.
  • Lease Agreement: Successful applicants must sign the lease agreement upon the unit’s assignment.
  • Damage Deposit: A damage deposit must be paid at the time of unit assignment.
  • Rent-Ready Workshop: All new tenants must attend the Rent-Ready Workshop offered by the Métis Capital Housing Corporation.
