TapLook is pleased to announce the introduction of a new optional tip feature for customers who choose to pay for their services by credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. This update gives customers a simple and convenient way to recognize the care, patience, and professional service provided by their TapLook Pro. The feature has been added directly to the secure online payment process, allowing customers to enter a tip before continuing to Stripe Checkout and completing their payment.
At TapLook, we understand that providing mobile beauty and personal care services for seniors involves much more than completing a manicure, pedicure, haircut, or grooming appointment. A TapLook Pro may take additional time to help a senior feel comfortable, arrange the service area safely, communicate patiently, accommodate mobility limitations, and provide reassurance throughout the appointment. Many customers and family members have asked for an easier way to show appreciation for this additional care. The new optional tip feature responds directly to that request.

When a TapLook service is completed and payment is required, the customer receives a secure payment link. After clicking the credit card payment button, the customer is taken to a TapLook payment page displaying the remaining service balance. The page also includes a clearly identified field where the customer may enter a tip for the assigned TapLook Pro. Customers who do not wish to leave a tip can simply leave the amount at zero and continue with their regular payment.
As soon as a tip amount is entered, the payment page automatically updates the calculation. The customer can review the service balance, optional tip, applicable credit card processing fee, and final payment total before proceeding. After confirming the amounts, the customer continues to Stripe Checkout, where the payment can be completed securely using an eligible credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay.
The tip feature is entirely optional. TapLook does not require customers to leave a tip, and choosing not to add one will never affect the quality of service, booking priority, or support provided during future appointments. TapLook Pros are expected to deliver respectful, dependable, and senior-friendly service to every customer, regardless of whether a tip is included. The purpose of this feature is simply to provide customers with an additional choice when they feel that a TapLook Pro has provided exceptional care and attention.
TapLook has designed the feature to keep each part of the payment clearly separated. The service balance, optional tip, and credit card processing fee are recorded as different amounts. This separation helps ensure that the tip is not incorrectly treated as service revenue or as a payment-processing fee. The tip is associated with the TapLook Pro assigned to the completed booking so it can be included accurately in the partner’s payout records.
Customers may continue to use e-Transfer when that payment option is available. A customer paying by e-Transfer may include a tip in the same transfer and reference the booking number in the transfer message. The new feature is intended specifically to make tipping more convenient for people who prefer to pay online by credit card, Apple Pay, or Google Pay. It does not remove or restrict any existing payment option offered by TapLook.
The updated payment process also addresses an important technical issue involving expiring Stripe Checkout links. Instead of placing a temporary Stripe Checkout address directly inside an email, TapLook provides a secure TapLook payment link. When the customer clicks the link, the system reviews the latest booking balance and creates a new Stripe Checkout session at that moment. Customers therefore do not have to worry about an old Stripe session expiring before they have an opportunity to complete their payment.
This dynamic process is particularly helpful for family members managing mobile beauty appointments on behalf of a parent, grandparent, or another older adult. A family member may not be able to open the payment email immediately after an appointment is completed. With the updated system, the original TapLook payment link remains available, and a fresh Stripe Checkout session can be generated when the customer is ready to pay. If a temporary Checkout session expires after it has been opened, the customer can return to the TapLook payment link and begin again.
Before creating a new Checkout session, the system checks the booking’s current payment information. If the balance has already been paid, the customer is informed that no remaining payment is required. This helps reduce the risk of accidental duplicate payments. The payment amount is also calculated using the most recent booking information, including any properly recorded travel fees, parking fees, deposits, taxes, or service adjustments.
Security remains an important part of the TapLook payment experience. The payment links generated by the system contain a secure verification token. This prevents someone from simply changing a booking number in the website address to access another customer’s payment process. Credit card details are entered through Stripe Checkout and are not entered directly into the TapLook booking management system.
Once Stripe confirms a successful payment, the TapLook system can record the service payment, processing fee, and optional tip separately. The booking payment status can then be updated, and the appropriate confirmation process can begin. This reduces manual work for the TapLook team and improves the accuracy of partner payout calculations.
For TapLook Pros, this update provides a more transparent and organized way to receive customer tips. Mobile beauty professionals often bring patience, flexibility, and compassion to each appointment, especially when serving customers at home, in hospitals, retirement residences, assisted living communities, long-term care settings, or rehabilitation facilities. Although tipping is never expected, some customers appreciate having a direct way to recognize thoughtful and compassionate service.
For customers, the process remains straightforward. There is no separate tip transaction to complete and no need to contact TapLook to request a different payment link. The optional amount can be entered before proceeding to Stripe, and the full total is displayed for review. Customers remain in control of the amount and may choose any value within the permitted range, including zero.
The feature applies to eligible TapLook services for which online card payment is available. These may include mobile manicures, pedicures, nail services, haircuts, hairstyling, grooming support, and other approved mobile beauty services. The exact service balance shown on the payment page is based on the customer’s booking and any payments already recorded.
This update reflects TapLook’s ongoing commitment to improving the experience of seniors, families, customers, and TapLook Pros. As the service grows, TapLook continues to review how bookings, payments, partner assignments, customer notifications, service completion records, and payouts can work together more effectively. Small improvements to the payment process can make a meaningful difference by reducing confusion, improving transparency, and giving customers more flexibility.
TapLook is grateful to the customers and families who continue to share feedback about their experiences. Their suggestions help us build mobile beauty services that are easier to use and better suited to the practical needs of older adults. We are equally grateful to the TapLook Pros who provide dependable, respectful, and compassionate services in communities across Canada and other TapLook service areas.
The optional tip feature for credit card payments is now part of TapLook’s evolving digital payment experience. Customers can continue to choose the payment method that works best for them, while those who wish to recognize excellent service now have a convenient way to do so during the secure online payment process. Through this update, TapLook is making payments more flexible, tips more transparent, and the overall service experience more supportive for everyone involved.
