$1 from every booking goes toward joy-building programs for older adults
TapLook was founded on a simple belief: beauty and care should feel like connection. Every appointment is a chance to brighten someone’s day, especially for seniors who may not always have easy access to uplifting experiences. Today, we’re turning that belief into a lasting commitment with the TapLook Senior Smile Community Fund.
How the fund works
For every TapLook service that is booked and completed, TapLook will contribute $1 to the Senior Smile Fund. These dollars are pooled and directed to programs that enhance the emotional, social, and physical well-being of seniors in retirement homes, assisted living communities, and community centers. As our bookings grow, so does the fund, creating a virtuous cycle of care: you book, we serve, and together we deliver more smiles.
Why smiles matter
Research and common sense agree: joy is health. Regular social engagement, meaningful activities, and gentle movement can improve mood, cognition, mobility, and resilience. Yet many communities struggle to run consistent, high-quality programs due to limited budgets or staffing. The Senior Smile Fund closes that gap by underwriting hands-on, high-impact activities that are easy for staff to host and delightful for residents to join.
What we fund: activity examples (inspired by the images provided)
The Senior Smile Fund supports a mix of arts, movement, recreation, and community outings. Below are examples of programs we will sponsor—each one corresponds to the images you’ve shared so your team can visualize how the fund translates into real experiences.
-
Creative Arts & Painting Sessions
Gentle, guided workshops where residents paint on canvas or paper, exploring color and memory while improving fine-motor skills and self-expression. (See image: gentleman painting at an easel.) -
Light Strength & Movement Classes
Chair-friendly routines with small hand weights to maintain mobility, posture, and confidence. Programs are designed to be safe and adaptable for all levels. (See image: group of seniors lifting dumbbells.) -
Ball Play, Coordination & Laughter Games
Seated or standing group games with soft balls to encourage coordination, reaction time, and lots of laughter, an instant social spark. (See image: seniors tossing colorful balls.) -
Craft-Along Workshops
Seasonal crafts such as leis, greeting cards, memory collages, or flower arranging that residents can gift to friends and family or display proudly. (See image: two women smiling while crafting leis.) -
Celebrations & Themed Socials
Small “wow” moments: birthday bundles, holiday mask parties, music hours, or photo-booth afternoons. These elevate the ordinary day into a festive memory. (See collage image: masked celebration and painting.) -
Local Outings & Nature Walks
Short, well-supported trips—like a visit to a garden, farmer’s market, or museum, that refresh the senses and invite gentle movement and social interaction. (See collage image: group visiting a lavender field.) -
Rhythm & Drum Fitness
Energetic, low-impact cardio using drumsticks and stability balls to rhythmic music, great for coordination, mood, and group connection. (See image: seated drumming class with sticks and balls.) -
Games, Cards & Social Clubs
Weekly bridge or rummy circles, puzzle clubs, trivia, and bingo with light refreshments, simple formats that reliably build community. (See image: table card game with high-five.)
Each program can be customized to the needs of the residence, from intimate ten-person workshops to larger group sessions. The fund aims to cover supplies, facilitator time when needed, and small touches (music, décor, or prizes) that transform activities into experiences.
Our promises: impact, inclusion, transparency
Impact first. We prioritize activities that measurably lift spirits and participation—especially for residents who may be less active or more isolated.
Inclusive by design. Programs welcome diverse languages, mobility levels, and cognitive abilities. Many are seated, adaptive, and sensory-friendly.
Responsible reporting. We will publish periodic summaries describing dollars raised, programs delivered, resident participation, and highlight stories from partner communities. When possible, we’ll include photos and quotes (with permission) so donors and customers see the smiles they’ve sparked.
Where the money goes
Every completed booking transfers $1 into the Senior Smile Fund. From there, dollars are allocated in three ways:
-
Direct Program Grants: Mini-grants to retirement homes and community centers to run approved activities (arts, movement, socials, and more).
-
Activity Kits: TapLook-curated kits (paint & canvas sets, craft bundles, game packs, music playlists, and simple instruction cards) shipped to residences so staff or volunteers can run programs with minimal prep.
-
Facilitator Support: When a residence needs extra hands, the fund can cover trained facilitators to lead sessions safely and joyfully.
Administrative overhead is kept lean; our goal is to put as much as possible into the room where smiles happen.
How retirement homes can participate
-
Apply for a mini-grant. Share your preferred activities, group size, and timing. We’ll match your request with the right kit, funding, or facilitator support.
-
Schedule a TapLook Day. Pair on-site beauty services (like gentle manicures or hair trims) with a Senior Smile activity for a high-energy community event.
-
Start a Monthly Series. Choose a rotating calendar e.g., Week 1 Painting, Week 2 Drum Fitness, Week 3 Card Club, Week 4 Crafts & Tea and we’ll help sponsor supplies and guidance.
How customers and partners can help (beyond booking)
-
Round-up at checkout. Soon, you’ll be able to top up your $1 impact with a voluntary round-up or an extra $3–$10 donation.
-
Sponsor a residence. Businesses can underwrite a quarter or a year of activities at a local home, your community, your impact.
-
Volunteer with us. When activities are staff-led, volunteers multiply the joy. We welcome cosmetology students, retirees, and corporate volunteer teams.
-
Share a story. Tell us about a residence that could use a lift, or a program idea that worked wonders, we love co-designing with families and activity directors.
A sample “Smile Calendar” your $1 helps fund
Week 1: Art & Expression: Canvas painting or watercolor morning. Residents finish with a mini-gallery walk and light music.
Week 2: Move & Groove: Chair weights, stretch bands, or drum fitness with upbeat tunes and a hydration break.
Week 3: Games & Friends: Card clubs, bingo with prizes, trivia, or puzzle stations for collaborative fun.
Week 4: Craft & Celebrate: Seasonal crafts (leis, flowers, greeting cards), photo-booth props, or a small themed party.
This rhythm blends creativity, movement, social connection, and celebration, the four pillars of a smile-rich community.

What this means for TapLook customers
Every time you schedule a TapLook service, you’re not only caring for yourself or a loved one, you’re funding real moments of joy for elders in your community. The logo you’ll see on our materials—a heart with two caring hands and a clear “$1” badge, is your reminder that a single appointment can ripple outward into dozens of smiles.
Launch timeline
The Senior Smile Fund launches immediately with pilot grants and activity kits. As contributions grow, we’ll expand to more residences and introduce a rotating set of seasonal programs (spring garden outings, summer ice-cream socials, fall arts festivals, winter music and memory workshops). Our long-term vision is a nationwide calendar of TapLook-sponsored activities that residents can count on every month.
A note of gratitude
This fund exists because of you, our customers, partners, technicians, and the families who trust TapLook. Your bookings are the engine; the smiles are the outcome. Thank you for helping us turn everyday appointments into extraordinary community care./.
